About Mike
Our founder, Michael J. Hearn, is considered by many to be one of the best master carpenters in the business today. He consider himself to be first, a technician and master craftsman and second a business owner. He has worked in this field since 1985 and has established a national reputation for quality, excellence and service. All of our craftsmen are overseen by Mike who still acts in the day-to-day role of customer service. Many of our craftsmen have been personally apprenticed to their current level of mastery by Mike. Establishing the business originally in New England in 1985, Mike apprenticed under many of the “old time” craftsmen.
Mike moved his family to Atlanta, Ga. in January of 1989, and the Hearn family has thrived in the area ever since. In 1994, Mike took a hiatus from his American business to fulfill a lifelong dream of doing mission work and helping others in need. Mike applied his skills and shifted his work to building schools, orphanages, and churches in second and third world countries. He, his wife and 4 children spent 5 years working with American teams and craftsmen from countries such as Romania, Brazil, Ukraine and Bulgaria. Returning to the Atlanta area in 1999, IHS picked up where they left off five years earlier with some of the same clients and has grown in a deliberate and steady fashion ever since.
